One of the singing pummpkins from the Haunted Mansion
Nightmare Before Christmas Holiday at Disneyland. When two of my favorite things, The Haunted Mansion and the Nightmare Before Christmas come together, it's a beautiful thing. I'm working on my watercolor painting skills. In the past I've used watercolor pencils quit a bit which gives me a lot of control on where the color goes when I'm working on a piece, but I love the glow that you get when you work with watercolors in the more traditional sense.
I started with this concept sketch of some of the singing jack-o-lanterns to get a feel for what I wanted to do. I just love the blues and whites of the snow in contrast with the orange and yellow glow of the pumpkins. That color combination is one of my very favorite combinations to work with in acrylic. I was excited to start experimenting with watercolors and see what they could do.

In the end I'm really happy with the way the colors came out and already onto my next piece of Cleo from Pinocchio.
"Ye come seekin' adventure and salty ol' pirates, eh? Sure ye come to the proper place.".... into the art studio we go. They say that you are a product of your environment - explains a lot about me!
When the Crypt Doors Creak and the Tombstones Quake
Making some more progress on the Haunted Mansion Demon Wallpaper. Adding layer after layer of color to bring out some creepy-cool dimension in the wallpaper.
Starting to paint the first layer of color on my Haunted Mansion Demon Wallpaper. I have been obsessed with the Haunted Mansion from the time I was seven years old. I just love the chills you get as you ride in your DoomBuggie through the corridor of doors, past the thirteen-hour demon clock with hundreds of eyes from the wallpaper watching you...
Here I'm laying own the base color for all of the demons in acrylic paint. Each of the demons were hand sketched onto the canvas. A LOT of work! But totally worth it! Now the fun part begins and I get to start bringing some of the 999 Happy Haunts out to play!
My trusty co-pilot Newman is at his station supervising as I start the first layer of the demons on this piece I'm creating of the Haunted Mansion Demon Wallpaper.
